Message from Slidell Bantam Baseball Association!

Parents Coaches Players and Fans

We appreciate your patience as we navigate this unprecedented event for SBBA and the young players around the city.

We WILL have a baseball/softball season this year!!!!
However, the season will have to be pushed back a couple of weeks and extended longer than anticipated.  As it stands now, we are hoping to have opening day early to mid may.  With that being said all games will have to be played during the daylight hours to include Saturdays and potentially Sunday’s, to avoid as many Sundays as we can double headers on a Saturday will more than likely be scheduled.  This is due to the extensive damage the electrical and light poles took.  The park will have a different look for this season, but it will be safe.  Ultimately, we want to ensure that our young players get to play baseball/softball this year.

We have a couple of items through insurance to discuss, but we are intending on having a work day/weekend next weekend April 20/21 to get the park cleaned up and all debris removed unless insurance tells us we can not.  Please pay attention to emails as well as Facebook this week for an update.

Many of you have reached out and is greatly appreciated, if you have any time, material equipment, etc. that you have that can help with the cleanup please email info@sbba.net so we can develop a game plan.  We ask for this so we can maximize the volunteer effort.  Once we know what we have we will send out additional information including times and days that the cleanup will take place.

Thank you
SBBA Board

F.A.Q.
  • What age group should my child be in?

When you enter your child's birthday it will default to the correct division. You can also check the Documents section of the website for the age bracket. It will go by your child's year and month of birth.

  • When does Spring registration begin?

Spring registration will open on the website around the first of the year. Please check our website for updates as well as follow our Facebook page for notifications.

  • Can my child play up/down?

No. We follow the guidelines for USSSA on what division your child should play in. Please see our age bracket key under the Documents tab or go to www.USSSA.com and use their age calculator to determine the Division for your child.

  • Can I request my child play with his/her friend or for a specific coach?

You can make the request on your registration. However, those requests are NOT a guarantee. All players, with the exception of the coaches child, are drafted. No special requests are guaranteed and we do NOT allow trades after the drafts.

  • How much is Spring registration?

It is $125.00 for the first child with a discount for each child after that who lives in the same household.

  • What days will Spring games be on?

Typically, each team will play two games per week. It will depend on how many teams we have in each age group, but the goal is for Monday, Wednesday and Friday with Saturdays if needed.

  • What days are practice during the Spring?

Practice days, times and locations are up to the individual coaches once teams are selected.

  • When does Spring registration end for 2024?

Registration for the Spring will end March 2, 2024.

  • Who has to tryout? Does everyone make a team?

Players in age groups 6 and up tryout except for head coaches kids ONLY. Everyone makes a team, this is more of an evaluation for coaches to draft teams so they are more evenly matched.

  • Is all T-Ball Co-Ed?

No, only T4 is co-ed. T5 and T6 are just boys. 6U is 5 and 6 year old girls.

  • When I enter my child's birthday, it says "No Division Available", but they are old enough to play

Be sure to click on the appropriate link for your child's birthday. If they are supposed to be in T-ball, you have to click on that link. Likewise, you have to click on the baseball/softball link if they are supposed to be in baseball/softball.

  • When does the Spring season end?

The spring season usually ends the end of May prior to Memorial Day. However, that can change due to the number of rainout games we have in a season.
